Medieval Times Performers United California

MT Strike 2.jpeg

On Nov. 10, the showcast, knights and squires, and stable hands of Medieval Times in Buena Park, California voted 27-18 to together in union with the American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA).

In February 2023, Medieval Times Performers United members at the California castle went on strike to protest Medieval Times management's anti-union behavior and violations of labor law.

Donate here to support them.

Medieval Times employees in California have joined together in union to create a better workplace by addressing:

Voice

We've brought our workplace concerns to management and senior leadership time and again, and they refuse to address them. Some of us have even been retaliated against for bringing up problems. With our union, we will gain a say in decisions and the ability to develop solutions to workplace issues.

Pay

Our wages have failed to keep up with the cost of living in California and are not reflective of the professional work that we do. Together, we will negotiate for a fair return on our work.

Staffing

Currently, we are performing 16 shows per week, and we often do not have enough staff to perform all roles. With this workload, we've had to take on additional responsibilities that far exceed the positions we were hired for. With our collective voice, we will work with management to address staffing issues and define job roles.
